Gigabyte, a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, was faced with various global supply chain challenges in achieving compressed product cycle time, accurate and on-time delivery of customer orders, timely communications, and the supply chain visibility. This was further complicated by hundreds of suppliers and customers around the globe, making both inbound and outbound logistics very complex operations.
In 2004, Gigabyte chose the Toplogis platform, GLORY, for global supply chain and logistics collaboration. “Our current ERP system does not have adequate logistics management functions to meet the challenges of the global market,” said Irene Lee, director of Gigabyte’s business management division. “We spent two years searching for a solution, and after thorough market investigations and assessment, we concluded that Toplogis has the industry knowledge and experience in delivering what we need through the GLORY platform.”
The immediate benefit of GLORY is the standardization of business processes and automation of
information and document generation and distribution among global trading partners.
GLORY eliminates the time-consuming and error-prone manual creation of such documents as
invoices and
packing lists, provides real-time status of shipments and expedites the processing of the work
flow by service providers such as forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers.
With the global supply chain visibility and track-and-trace capability, Gigabyte now has a
much better control of its global inventory and has increased its supply chain efficiency.
According to Lee, GLORY helps to strengthen the relationship between the suppliers,
vendors, manufacturers, and trading partners, resulting in significant improvement in customer
service levels.
Due to the complex nature of the shipments around the world, Gigabyte engages over a
hundred
logistics service providers to ship products and materials across the globe.
GLORY links up with the systems of hundred of service providers and trading partners and
ensures real-time flow of information among the trading partners.
Gigabyte’s staff utilizes several of the GLORY modules such as e-Import, e-Export, e-Hub,
e-Port,
e-Document, e-Billing, and LSP-WebPortal to perform
all aspects of their supply chain and logistics management functions, resulting in significant
reduction in cycle time, reduction in inventory, higher productivity and data accuracy, as well
as increase in customer satisfaction.
